SACRED SPACES VILLAGE

CAMPING WITH SACRED SPACES: Our Motto is “Water the Roots”! We believe in creating a strong container whereby each individual’s body, heart, mind, and spirit are nurtured.

• Body: We offer an incredible vegan meal plan (with Carnivore Options) through one of our camps – Krishna Camp who specializes in creating sacred food on the playa. We also offer showers & changing rooms, a healing center, yoga, and a shaded camp chill space.

• Heart-Mind: Workshops, Visionary Art, Music, and Prayerformance.

• Spirit: From the creation of the Mystic Metropolis to the nurturing of our spirits through dinner meditations and sacred society ceremonies and outings centered around the chakras.

Shared Village Costs are $306. Work-trade options available on an as-needed basis for those taking leadership positions in the Village. Half price for build crew (arrive by Wed before the burn) or strike crew (stay till Wed after the burn). Refund will be given after the burn. As part of our playa offering: We are co-sponsoring Feed the Artists this year with our Sister Village – Red Lightning. Our kitchen will be providing yummy meals for funded artists the week prior to Burning Man!

We have space available for 150 spiritual revolutionaries!

OUR COLLECTIVE ART PROJECT: Mystic Metropolis

2010 MANIFESTATION – MYSTIC METROPOLIS: The Mystic Metropolis is a collaborative inter-faith temple complex. At the core of the temple complex are 7 temples dedicated to each of the chakras. Connecting to the core are a variety of independent art installations and temples, provided by individual contributors and groups, both within our village and across the playa. This city within the city, the Mystic Metropolis will be a playa destination point for individuals seeking to connect with source. In addition to the Temples, we also have a STAGE for kirtan, sacred music, and prayerformence.
There are many ways to join the FUN!
• If you have a sacred art installation or temple you would like bring – we can assist with powering your installation and helping it find placement on the Esplanade (where we have historically been placed).
• If you are a visionary-priest/ess & are interested in co-creating one of the chakra temples by contributing specific art, priestcraft, altars, chakra-oriented events, or décor.

The Soul of Black Rock City : Mystic Metropolis
Though we have given examples of what these spaces might look like – we welcome new and differing interpretations along the theme of the chakras and expect these temples to evolve.

The Red Root Chakra Temple - ("The Sacred Feminine") a temple embodying the primal power of the earth, our ancestors, and the mysteries of creation. It is a space for all genders to honor the divine feminine, womyn of all creations, the maiden, mother, priestess, sister, daughter, grandmother, etc. The decoration theme can be lots of Goddess deities and female leaders from around the world, plus moon cycle objects, birthing info, bones, red and black decor.

The Orange Sacral Chakra Temple - ("Divine Polarity") a temple dedicated to exploring polarity mysticism in many forms such as yin-yang and the dance of the masculine and the feminine. It is a space for expressing desire and intimacy, sensual connections, tantric union, and lovers' expression. Workshops involving sacred sexuality can be offered. The decoration theme would be something sensual artifacts, images of duality, desire, tantric imagery, and lots of orange and peach colors.

The Yellow Solar Chakra temple - (The Empowered Masculine) a temple embodying balanced power, and illumination. It is a space for all genders to honor the male archetypes in the world, the sun god, priest, shaman, king, warrior, hunter, father, brother, son, grandfather. Men's circles and workshops embodying brotherhood and more can be offered. The theme can be solar and include male deities, phallic-shaped objects, pipes, staffs, drums, shields, and the colors yellow & gold.

The Green Heart Chakra temple - (The Healing Sanctuary) a temple where bodywork and hands on healing will be offered throughout the week. This is an opportunity for those who wish to feel their emotions through with touch and healing magic. The space is rich, vibrant, and connecting. Envision lots of green, fountains, artificial greenery, massage tables,

The Blue Throat Chakra Temple - (Communication Center) a temple exploring communication, language, and the healing properties of sound. Sound workshops, singing, chanting, and verbal self expression can be offered in this space. The decor explores music and sound, winged creatures (birds, butterflies, fairies), clouds, the sky, and various shades of turquoise and light blue.

The Indigo Third Eye Chakra Temple - (The Mind-Expansion Lair) This is the temple for any form of arts and crafts, live art creation, of lectures involving our future and sustainability, creativity, new paradigms of living, and more. We imagine dark blue decor, images of modern sustainability, and futuristic visionary art of all kinds being the theme of this space.

The Violet Crown Chakra Temple - (The Spiritual Oasis) This will be the one non-verbal temple where silent meditation and vipasana are welcome. Crystal bowls, gongs, and similar sound vibrations are here, and diving deep into the spiritual realm celebrates this seventh chakra temple. For decor, we imagine lots of purple and white colors, crystals, pyramids, Buddha statues, and the like.

The White Universal Chakra Temple - ("Unity") the biggest temple of them all, for very large workshops, downtempo music, yoga classes, ecstatic dance and movement, and deep chill. All decor colors are white, with billowy fabric, carpets, artwork, and lots of room to move around.

What is Evolutionary Spirituality?

Evolutionary Spirituality can mean many things but it brings to mind the ideas of forward-thinking spirituality based on modern life that still honors all that has come before.

It is the conscious weaving of new ideas and past traditions into a unique whole.

Like you, it's constantly shifting and changing and so quite hard to pin down.

Evolutionary Spirituality explores our connections with the Earth, each other and the unknown.

With Evolutionary Temple we are seeking to create a radical new asethetic for the post-modern spirit. This honors our ancestors and history without misappropriating the iconography of any religion or culture other than our own.

Our Evolutionary Temple is a sacred container for esctatic, ambient/trance and healing music (including acoustic music with real instruments), healing arts and energy work, vibrational and sound healing, sacred mysteries, ritual, meditation and community activism and awareness.

Digging deep within the Prima Materia we discover the wisdom of the ancients All the Living Kingdoms of the World joyously singing the song of Love's Creation.

Humanity enters into sacred guardianship with the Earth, bridging time-space to create a new future.

Activating the Starseed, we are empowered to be the Change we seek.

We define Sacred Space as: a protected intentional space designed for communing with the Divine.

Why create Sacred Space?

Sacred space is essential to healing, raising consciousness, transformation, and unity. Providing a container to delineate that which is Sacred and that which is not Sacred gives us the ability to flow between the Sacred and un-Sacred in a more loving way. The interplay of all Divinity, whether Sacred or not, comes more to the forefront of our consciousness. And should we choose to do so, we can raise, transform, or transmute the level of this Divinity with our new found consciousness and understanding of all Divinity as it is delineated by the Sacred.

Just as the horizon tells us where the sky is and where the earth is, Sacred space tells us where the Divine is and where we are.

Our Philosophy

Sacred Spaces promotes the positive enrichment and alchemical transformation of the world known traditionally as "the Great Work." Our tools include: the fine arts, education, spiritual practice, syncretism, community networking and social service. Our value system might be best described as "Syrian" and it celebrates sacred geometry as the building blocks of the universe, quantum physics, higher dimensions, the healing of mind, body and spirit, and listening to both inner and extradimensional wisdom to meet the challenges that lie ahead, opening us up to our true potential as conscious participants in the multidimensional universe.

We see the universe as an interdependent web in which all things are mutually influential; therefore the health and well-being of all life is to be valued. In pursuit of this aim, we support improving the collective intelligence of humanity through the advancement of Science, Spirt, Art, & Magick.

CAMP VALUES

This year we want to bring ourselves into greater balance by holding nurturing ourselves and our community as THE central value in our ongoing evolution.

We have instituted a number of changes this year to help facilitate the community experience . We strive to improve the community experience with ritualized blessings when people arrive on the playa, a community communications center with a message board, clear laminated camp layout & schedules, and sunset leadership check-ins, as well as more planned cross-camp Village community events.

We are going to keep our family intimate this year and focus on enriching our bonds with each other.

CO-CREATION & CONTRIBUTION

We ask that each person contribute two 3-hour Temple Guardian shifts holding sacred space in the Temple.

We encourage members to host workshops, DJ, play music, conduct ritual or do live art creation. This, however, does not excuse you from contributing to camp fees, set up, strike or your required 3 hour Temple Guardian Shift.

We also ask you to contemplate what makes you uniquely you and how you can offer that to your Burner community. Many of us discover leadership abilities, artistic talents and skills we never knew we had, and this is part of the magic and beauty of working in a Burning Man camp.

For example, a musician might discover they are great a leading a build, a chiropractor might discover they can dance, an accountant might discover she's an artist. We want to give everyone the chance to grow and spread their wings in the Temple.

Love,

The Sacred Spaces Crew
